10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 00:00:01…

…before you can even finish saying “Happy New Year”, earlier than your mouth has time to fully form the “H” of “Happy”, you will have crossed the threshold that leads you out of 2007 and across the great crevasse that is 2008. On New Year’s Eve 2007, as that clock ticks towards midnight, the number “one”, even more than any other number in the countdown of all countdowns, is the singular most important number of that sequence. It will be the last number on the lips of every person in their respective time zones for this year as they usher out the old and welcome in the new during the peak of revelry.

By the time that this eventful night has climaxed with the bellowing proclamation of “Auld Lang Syne”, 2007’s slate will be figuratively wiped clean with a fresh start issued to all. For sure, you might have some baggage that will be wheeled, carried or express mailed into 2008, but for the most part, this traditional song and cacophony of horn blowing is all part of a ceremonial send off to the good, bad and indifferent of the previous twelve months.

Just minutes after the number “one” has come and gone, you may find that even though you are surrounded by those you love, you have a true, profound introspective moment whereby you pause and reflect on what 2008 may have in store for you. Perhaps this is why after so much of the evening has been driving towards reaching the number “one”, people suddenly calm down. There is a real recognition that although one year has ended, another has just begun. Some recognize joyfully that upon entering the New Year they have the potential to tap into the infinite possibilities that will exist during the 31,535,999 seconds that will precede “one’s” declaration on Dec. 31, 2008. For all of the attention that “one” is given each year, it also deserves reverence for its significance as an archetypal number and one of the sacred numbers in geometry.

More than anything else, the number “one” is a metaphor for your connection with the great oneness, also referred to as the Monad, the mysterious creator of all consciousness within the Universe. Geometrically it is known as a point which can represent an indiscriminate placement in time, the allegorical eternal now containing past, present and future simultaneously. As a point, it also symbolizes the elementary particle of the atom and as such, represents chaos in the quantum field of infinite possibilities. It represented both the creator and the created as being one in the same. It is basically the underlying number to all other numbers as everything emanated from that source number. The number “one”, like Intuition, can be found in the multiplication of everything in the Universe. No matter how large a number is multiplied with it, the number remains constant. This is source, primordial matter that is the basis for every creation in the Universe. It is the connective thread, the singular atom, which is the active intelligence which exists in all material and immaterial forms.

If you are able to make just one New Year’s resolution, a singularly intentional decision that you are going to work towards in 2008, make it one that thrills you. One of the videos on The Life Coach Online website is titled, Reluctance v Resolve, and it is specifically about the power of becoming a conscious creator. The day that you decide to put your stake in the ground about any desire that has an unwavering exciting affect on your body, mind and spirit, you will know this feeling. It is my hope for you in the coming year that you will lock onto your internal compass that has the muscle to lead you in the direction of your true northerly point. Take the time to isolate an idea from deep within your imagination that you can really sink your teeth into for the foreseeable future and watch the magic begin to take shape. “One” is so powerful because when a singular point of attraction has focus, it also has laser precision accuracy in its momentum and course of direction.

Maybe for this coming New Year’s Eve, you will end 2007 with a loud, proud boisterous “one” and once your literal or figurative “ball” has dropped as midnight, make it a point to greet 2008 with an equally rowdy cheer of “one”. So,…00:00:01, 2, 3, 2, 5…and onward towards New Year’s Eve 2008. Rest assured that if you sleep through all of the activities this coming New Year’s Eve, you still have tens of millions of seconds left before the notes of Auld Lang Syne rings once again across the globe in 2008. Make every moment in 2008 count!
